The Ultimate Fighting Championship is returning to Abu Dhabi

Big fights, big names and championship matches are coming to the capital

Let’s get ready to rumble!

Fight fans will be delighted to hear that The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is on its way back to Abu Dhabi.

Thanks to a new partnership between UFC and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, more UFC events will be held in the capital over the next five years.

That’s a lot of fights and the good news is that each bout held in the capital will be headlined by at least one championship match.

First up will be UFC 242 on September 7 at a purpose built arena on Yas Island.

The event, being broadcast live around the world, is the latest to be held in the city since events in 2010 and more recently in 2014.

But it won’t be all about the big night.

There will be a full week of build-up events including weigh-ins, open workouts, press conferences and live entertainment in the run-up to the fight.

Dana White, UFC President, said: “We are making a long-term commitment to Abu Dhabi because we have had great success in that market.

“The demand from our fans to bring UFC back to Abu Dhabi has been overwhelming, and over the next five years, DCT Abu Dhabi will help us deliver some spectacular UFC championship fights to the UAE.

“I’m very excited about this partnership and what it will mean for the growth of this sport and for UFC in the region.”

Ticket details will be released at a later date, so watch this space for more updates.
