Whether it’s for a lazy Saturday breakfast, a healthy salad to break up the working day or simply to satisfy those late-night burger cravings (come on, we all have them), we always love a visit to Jones the Grocer.
Originating in Australia, the café specialises in healthy, nutritious and homemade food.
The concept has been a huge hit across the UAE, and it’s certainly won over the hearts of the residents of Abu Dhabi.
In fact, it’s so popular that the brand has just opened its 15th store in the UAE at Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi Downtown.
Boasting an urban-chic style décor with a terrace overlooking Zayed the First Street, the eatery comes with friendly staff and a bright cheerful atmosphere. While you wait for your food you can watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen, and browse the bakery, patisserie, cheese and charcuterie stations.
The menu contains all the usual Jones favourites. The breakfast highlights include a traditional English platter (complete with beef sausage and bacon, mushroom and homemade hash browns) and photogenic ‘bowls of glory’ such as the banana and peanut butter organic acai bowl.
Or, if you’re heading over for lunch or dinner, you can try brilliant dishes such as the wagyu burger with crumbled brie, Moroccan spiced lamb shoulder on rosemary flatbread and chargrilled harissa chicken.
You can make it a social occasion and share one of the enormous cheese, antipasti and charcuterie platters.
There’s also a tempting range of fancy snacks and groceries. So don’t be surprised if you come away clutching a bag of roasted coffee beans or a jar of Australian honey.
Even if you’re not hungry (we’ve never experienced such a feeling) you can still try one of the super barista-style coffees.
Located in the Madinat Zayed area, the outlet is open every day from 7am to midnight.
