Amazon.ae has officially launched in Abu Dhabi

The global online retailer will offer products from Amazon US and Souq.com

Online retailer Amazon has officially launched in the UAE after months of speculation following the takeover of Souq.com in March 2017.

Until recently, shoppers were able to purchase a small number of items from Amazon’s global market.

Now the websites have combined, offering shoppers more variety and access to a much larger number of items, all available to be delivered to the capital.

Amazon.ae will offer customers the opportunity to pay for items in dirhams using credit or debit cards or even pay with cash when items are delivered.

Shoppers spending more than Dhs100 will also be able to take advantage of free next-day delivery as well as paid same-day delivery to certain areas of the UAE.

Ronaldo Mouchawar, Cofounder of Souq and Vice President of Amazon MENA said: “Today marks a proud day for Souq and Amazon, a day that we have been working towards since the two companies came together in 2017.

“Amazon.ae brings together Souq’s local know-how and Amazon’s global expertise, something we believe will be of significant benefit to UAE customers.

“Our combined team in the region has grown to over 3,600 employees, and each and every one of us is thrilled to invite UAE customers to join us on this journey, where we will continue to grow our product range, ensure great prices, and provide a convenient and safe shopping experience.”

You can now shop for products by downloading the mobile app or visiting www.amazon.ae.
