New events launched at Abu Dhabi’s Cultural Foundation for Ramadan

Get creative, understand traditions and learn this month

A new programme of activities have been launched at the Cultural Foundation during Ramadan.

Led by a group of speakers, writers and artist from across the UAE, the events, held at Qasr al Hosn, will help guests to express creativity and get into the spirt of the season.

On May 18 and 25 visitors can attend the Cultural Majlis where a communal iftar is led by cultural expert Ali Al Saloom.

The sessions, from 6.30pm-8.30pm, will educate guests about Emirati traditions, help clarify dos and don’ts and overcome any social challenges residents in Abu Dhabi may experience during Ramadan.

On May 17 and 24 you can see anasheed performances, a type of traditional Islamic chanting.

Performances will be led by Emirati singers Abdullah Al Wasmy, Ali Bobar and Ammar Bobar from 10pm to midnight and will also demonstrate how the historic practice is appealing to younger generations.

On May 15 and 22 the writing society will be hosting workshops to celebrate creative writing and foster young talent.

Emirati author and scriptwriter Amal Al Duwaila will help improve creative thinking, storytelling and honing their style in sessions from 10pm to midnight.

Finally, on May 16 and 23 guests can take part in an art workshop to create Ramadan lanterns.

Taking place from 10pm to midnight, guests can use a range of materials to create their own lantern.
