Amazing mural in Al Raha

Take a closer look at Al Raha’s intricate artwork on display

Those of you who make frequent trips to Dubai will know that the view as you drive along Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Road isn’t exactly Snapchat-worthy. Brown sands sweep to the horizon for most of the journey, with the odd complex popping up every now and then. And then there is the green fence we have all come to know as the “just left the city” marker.

But the route just got more interesting thanks to the 600-metre long mural located between Al Raha Mall and Al Bandar, near the headquarters of Aldar, the company that has spearheaded the initiative.

A multi-national team of artists took about five weeks to complete the mammoth project that captures the spirit of Emirati culture. One painting shows a young boy walking his camel. Another is of an Emirati woman heading out into the desert, while symbols of the region such as a lantern and Arabic coffee pot also feature further along the wall.

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, CEO at Aldar Properties PJSC, says: “The value and role of art in advancing a dynamic society is indisputable, helping to educate and inspire creativity in its citizens. We are proud to showcase this artwork, which has drawn great interest from audiences, and we hope that it will be a beautiful addition and a unique artistic landmark.”

It certainly makes the Dubai ride far more interesting. Plus there is car park located behind the mural, so you can pull over to take a closer look and snap Instagram pictures.
