Why families should head to KidZania in Abu Dhabi this summer

There’s a new place for kids to hang out in Abu Dhabi.

But KidZania Abu Dhabi isn’t any usual playpark. No, there are buildings, city blocks, plazas and streets where children can play at being adults.

The 5,500 sq m space in Yas Mall is a place where youngsters can take on one of 60 real-life jobs and dream of what they’ll be when they grow up.

It’s an interactive city made especially for children and ran by them.

At KidZania, kids will be inspired, learn and have fun through realistic role-play.

Already an award-winning venue up the road in Dubai, in the Abu Dhabi version kids can work at a hospital, fire station, beauty salon, bank, oil company, radio and TV station, supermarket, pizzeria and more.

And it’s all made even more realistic with local industry partners empowering kids and allowing them to find out what it’s like to work in all of them.

From television anchors reading the news to police officers performing detective work and chefs cooking up tasty food, role-playing activities will introduce the children to different careers in a fun and interactive way.

Youngsters from one to 16 can take on roles as firemen, construction workers, police officers, and fashion designers, among other jobs.

They’ll also learn about earning a salary and managing their earnings, as they’ll be paid in Kidzos (KidZania’s currency). It’s all part of preparing them to be responsible adults.

As well as getting the chance to work, there are also food and beverage venues and merchandising and media locations, meaning there’s a broad range of environments, establishments and activities for a fully immersive experience.

It’s Dhs185 for for kids between four and 14 years old, and Dhs75 for adults. There’s also 10 percent off if you book online in advance.
