New summer camp launched at libraries across Abu Dhabi

Kids and young adults can take part in loads of fun workshops over the next month

It might be boiling hot outside right now, but there’s still loads to do in Abu Dhabi this summer.

Children and young adults are being encouraged to visit the capital’s libraries, and join in with workshops which cover subjects such as reading, design, the basics of law, paramedic skills, recycling, Arabic calligraphy, blogging, puppet making, music, agriculture and cooking.

The MAKTABA Summer Camp is running from now until August 8 in the libraries at Khalifa Park, Al Bahia, Al Wathba, Zayed Central and Al Marfa.

This year’s theme is ‘When I Grow Up’ and the activities are focused on future professions, skills and crafts, with the aim of helping children and young adults to decide what they want to do with their lives.

Book lovers can also get involved with the summer reading challenge and Young Librarian Initiative, while ladies can join in with classes in various crafts, calligraphy, decoupage and much more.

You can view the full schedule and register to take part in the workshops here.

Free. Until Aug 8. Various locations, including Khalifa Park Library, Khalifa Park Area, www.visitabudhabi.ae.
