Free SIM cards offered to tourists in Abu Dhabi

Visitors coming through the airport can get connected straight away

It’s easy to forget things when packing for a holiday.

Passport – got it, boarding pass – sorted, sun tan lotion – no problem.

When it comes to being able to use your phone abroad it can drop far down the to-do list somewhere under travel insurance and online check-in.

But now for visitors coming to the capital will now be able to use their phone while out and about in Abu Dhabi.

Tourists arriving at Abu Dhabi airport will be able to take advantage of free SIM cards so they can surf, stream and check online maps while staying in the capital.

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship will be giving out SIM cards that include minutes, text messages and data.

SIM cards will be valid for a month and will get automatically renewed if tourists extend their visa, which is a pretty good deal if you ask us.

The package includes 20MB of data, three minutes talk time per day (local or international) and five free SMSs.

People can pick up the complimentary cards at immigration, and with activation taking less than two minutes, visitors will be connected in no time.

That means anyone visiting can keep up to date with the latest news on Time Out Abu Dhabi while enjoying a stay in the capital.
