Say hello to Dubai’s AI assistant, Rashid, at Expo 2020

Artificial Intelligence set to be “backbone” of next year’s world Expo

Get ready to hear a lot from Rashid, because the artificial intelligence is going to be the official “backbone” of Expo 2020 Dubai, according to Dubai Media Office.

Rashid will be the Expo’s virtual assistant solution, offering help and advice in English and Arabic via the website and mobile app (which is set to be released soon). The AI service will be available through any smart device and will “offer users all the information they need to know about Expo 2020 and the city of Dubai”. For instance, it will be able to help you with flights and hotel bookings around the emirate during Expo 2020, to help manage the millions of visitors that are expected to fly to the city during the six-month festival.

Visitors of Expo 2020 will also be able to use Rashid to help them plan their visit, find out what shows are happening and when, as well as various attractions and guides to the exhibitions going on.

Her Excellency Dr. Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr, Director General of Smart Dubai, said it’s all about making sure visitors can experience the best of Dubai when they come to town. “This project will allow visitors to the event to witness, up close, the exceptional technologies and experiences that will make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world,” she said. “They will also be able to benefit from the services and facilities that the city offers its residents and visitors across all sectors.”

Rashid is also designed to learn and autonomously develop itself with better knowledge and information to continually improve its service.

Among the recent attractions confirmed to take place at Expo 2020, we’ve seen a sneak peek at the world’s first ropeless elevators (fitting for the world’s trade show that has historically unveiled society-changing inventions), as well as a Hungarian strongman who’s going to pull a plane with his teeth.
