It’s nearly the Eid al-Adha holiday season, and that means that a four-day holiday is coming our way.
So while the public sector and private sectors are gearing up for time off between Saturday August 10 and Tuesday 13, Dubai International Airport is getting ready for one of its biggest weekends of the year.
That’s because everyone’s getting a bit of a holiday in during the break (we’ve got 15 suggestions here, if you’ve not booked yet), so if you’re going to be jet-setting out of DXB on either Thursday 8, Friday 9 or Saturday 10, then you’re going to want to be arriving early.
Extra early, because Emirates reckons nearly 100,000 passengers are going to be heading through Terminal 3 on Friday alone.
But that’s not all because over the whole weekend more than 370,000 Emirates passengers are going to be travelling from Dubai. That’s more than 5,000 passengers an hour, or 85 per minute. Or 1.42 passengers per second.
So, consider traffic and your journey to the airport, as well as the possibility of hold-ups during check-in, security and passport control. Get to the airport three hours before your flight and make life easier for yourself, check in beforehand, try to make sure you’ve dropped your bags off no less than 2 hours before your flight.
