Most parents in the UAE happy to let their children use technology regularly

A new survey has studied attitudes surrounding technology and kids

Parents have been considering the effects of technology on their children since televisions began appearing in our homes decades ago.

Maybe, even before that, but the days of gramophones is even too far back for us.

Since then, with games consoles, computers, tablets and smartphones, technology has become a vital part of our lives and most of us have become more comfortable with the rise of tech.

In the UAE things are no different as the majority of parents believe technology is a good medium for their child’s development.

According to market research and analytics firm YouGov, four in five parents in the UAE believe technology is a benefit to their child.

Data was collected from respondents in the UAE in July this year and the survey results gave insight into attitudes towards technology among parents of all nationalities in the country.

Interestingly, parents over the age of 40 are more likely to have a positive outlook on children and technology than parents under the age of 40.

According to data collected by YouGov Mena, 92 percent of parents are happy to allow their children to use technology and the most popular device being used by children is a smartphone.

In terms of usage, 47 percent of parents allow their child to spend up to two hours per sitting using technology.

If we’re being honest, we couldn’t live without tech these days.

Sure, we could probably spend less time on our phones but you’ll never take our laptops, we refuse to go back to the days of the typewriter.

Happy surfing.
