Exclusive: New viewing deck, The Next Level, becomes highest vantage point on Palm Jumeirah

Opening today, the latest attraction at The View at The Palm is a VIP experience 250m above ground

Want to feel the fresh air in your face as you take in 360-degree sky-high views of the world’s largest man-made island?

It’s just become possible.

Palm Tower is now home to what is officially the highest vantage point on Palm Jumeirah.

The View at the Palm has taken its viewing experience one step further – actually, make that about 40 steps – with the launch today, Tuesday February 1, of a brand new Dubai attraction, The Next Level.

And Time Out has already been up for an exclusive first look.

There are two journeys to choose from, both of which include access to original attraction The View at The Palm and its gallery, packed full of exhibits and quirky digital presentations that tell you all about the creation of Palm Jumeirah.

General tickets start at Dhs175 for adults and Dhs120 for children aged four to 12, including fast track access to The View on Level 52 and to The Next Level.

Once you’ve learned all you want about Palm Jumeirah and the seven million tonnes of rock used to create its breakwater, you’ll zoom up to level 52 of The Palm Tower in a fancy elevator.

Set 240m above ground with 360-degree views from Dubai Marina to Downtown Dubai, you’ll get to walk round the outside edge of The Palm Tower, safely surrounded by angled glass walls, and stand on see-through steps for a real birds-eye view to the ground.

Then it’s time to experience new attraction The Next Level. No swish elevators here. Climb two flights of steps up to Level 54 for the ultimate unobstructed viewing experience.

The platform is small but from here you can stare for miles at all of Dubai’s coolest landmarks – Bluewaters Dubai, Atlantis The Palm, Burj Al Arab, and on a clear day, even Burj Khalifa. It’s truly mesmerising and you’ll find yourself playing tour guide to your companions.

The Next Level provides a surprisingly calm and serene experience. All the noise from below fades into nothing as you take the final steps onto the platform.

It’s a place to observe, contemplate, relax…and get a really good photo for your ‘I’ve seen everything in Dubai’ collection.

There are also VIP tickets starting from Dhs325 for adults and Dhs145 for children aged four to 12, including fast track access to both viewing decks as well as a guided tour and VIP lounge access with a house beverage or bubbly drink, Arabic sweets and snacks.

Only one other person has been to the very top of Palm Tower, Emirati figure skater Zahra Lari, who was dangled by helicopter and dropped onto the new observation platform, which had been transformed into an ice-rink for her use, just for one day.

You can check out her stunts and spins here.

We suggest you stick to the stairs.

The Next Level – The View at the Palm is now open. Advance booking recommended.

From Dhs175. Open daily, Mon-Thu 9am-10pm, Fri-Sun 9am-12noon. www.theviewpalm.ae (800 843 8439).
