Just the best Japanese brunches in Abu Dhabi

Sushi, sashimi and Wagyu beef galore

Hands up, who’s in the mood for a Japanese brunch in Abu Dhabi?

From mountains of unlimited sushi rolls to tender chunks of Wagyu beef that just melt in the mouth (and don’t forget the caviar), the capital loves itself a good Japanese brunch.

It’s time to put down the fork and bust out the chopsticks for the lowdown on Japanese brunches in Abu Dhabi.

99 sushi bar and restaurant

A stylish Japanese restaurant the interior of which is almost as impressive as its food (almost). 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant serves up a mega menu of dishes from the Land of The Rising Sun during brunch time. The Zeitaku brunch is an absolute gorging sesh of sushi, maki, sashimi and every Japanese dish you can imagine. Four and half hours filled with Japanese grub and unlimited drinks – sounds like a Friday well spent.
Dhs299 (soft drinks), Dhs399 (sparkling), Dhs699 (bubbly). Fri 1pm-5.30pm. The Galleria, Al Maryah Island (02 672 3333).

Buddha-Bar beach

We had to get the rulebook out on this one and we have decided that Barfly by Buddha-Bar can be classified as a Japanese brunch due to the sheer volume of sushi and other rice and fish treats that are dished out (so there). With stunning views of Saadiyat and a service that knows it is plain wrong to see an empty glass on the table, there will be only smiles when you can eventually move yourself to leave.
Dhs325 (soft drinks), Dhs450 (house beverages), Dhs525 (premium beverages). Fri 1pm-4pm and 7pm-midnight. The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort (02 498 8888).

Sushisan

This unpretentious eatery has launched a new three-course-menu for its Kyatchi Brunch in the last fortnight, and we can’t wait to sample it for ourselves. Taking place every Friday, diners can enjoy unlimited sushi and drinks from Dhs150. Tempting.
Dhs150 (soft drinks). Dhs210 (selected beverages). Fri noon-3pm. Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi, Dhafeer Street (02 657 4888).

Tokyo Grill & Bar

An all weekend brunch? That’s what we like to hear. Choose a time that suits on Thursday or Friday and then sit back for the feast that is coming. Tuck into robata grill options, sushi rolls or sashimi for two or three hours while slurping back unlimited house beverages. Bliss.
From Dhs299 (soft drinks, two hours), Dhs350 (house beverages, two hours), Dhs450 (house beverages, three hours). Thu-Fri 1.30pm-11pm. Venetian Village, The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Khor Al Maqta (050 696 9503).
