Qasr Al Hosn Abu Dhabi celebrates second anniversary since reopening

The city’s oldest building has marked the occasion

A quick glance at Abu Dhabi and you’ll see a modern city littered with glittering skyscrapers and stunning architecture.

It’s easy to forget the UAE is only 49 years young and that a short drive beyond the city are the far-stretching dunes of the Liwa Desert.

Offering a reminder of Abu Dhabi’s history and heritage, the emirate’s oldest building is one of the most popular cultural attractions in the city.

Celebrating two years since it reopened after extensive renovations, Qasr Al Hosn has launched a series of events to mark the occasion.

Buildings across the city, including Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Abu Dhabi National Exhibition centre (ADNEC), Khalifa University, Marina Mall and Al Ain Municipality, projected celebratory messages to mark the occasion.

In addition the Forsan Al Emarat air show saw jets soar over the historic fort with a colourful display.

The celebrations have been held to showcase the unique heritage and cultural significance of Qasr Al Hosn and its significance to the city.

Inviting the public to be a part of the celebrations, a range of activities and virtual activations have been launched at the venue for visitors.

Qasr Al Hosn recently launched virtual tours so people can explore what the historic site has to offer from home.
