Calling all UAE artists – we have an opportunity of a lifetime.
Louvre Abu Dhabi and Swiss watchmaking brand Richard Mille have announced the launch of a new annual exhibition, Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here, along with The Richard Mille Art Prize, to promote the very best of contemporary art.
This year, the exhibition and prize aim to shine a spotlight on Emirati and UAE-based artists as part of the UAE’s 50-year Jubilee celebrations.

Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here will serve as an annual platform to showcase contemporary artists working with all kinds of different media. The exhibition will seek four to six artists through an open call for proposals that any UAE-based artist can apply for. The selected artists will exhibit their artwork in The Forum at Louvre Abu Dhabi, and following their submissions, one will be awarded The Richard Mille Art Prize with a $50,000 (Dhs183,600) cash reward.
The exhibition will take place in November of this year, so artists had better get to work on their proposals ASAP. Any artist working in the UAE is eligible for the award, which will be made by a jury selection. This year’s theme is “memory, time, and territory” and asks artists to create work that considers the enormous changes the UAE has gone through since its founding, as well as personal stories and recollections, and ideas about the future.
Applications are open until Tuesday August 31. A shortlist will be selected by a jury of international experts, and will be announced at a later date.
This award and exhibition will be happening annually, with a ten-year commitment between Louvre Abu Dhabi and Richard Mille.
