Art exhibitions in Abu Dhabi

Time Out picks the best exhibits currently showing in Abu Dhabi

Globe

A diverse collection of work from 21 artists hailing from 19 different countries that includes everything from canvases to installations. Those with pieces on display include Emirati collage specialist Fatema Al Mazrouie, painter Wafa Khazendar and British photographer George Lewis, whose provocative images, which throw the cultural differences between the Middle East and the West into the spotlight, are sure to raise eyebrows.
Free. Until February 28. Salwa Zeidan Gallery

Guess the Artist

A new group show of 21cmx29cm canvases by a group of anonymous artists. The twist being that if you want to know who’s behind a particular piece, you’ll have to open your wallet and buy it. All works are priced at Dhs1,000, so there’s the chance to make a shrewd investment if your artistic eye is keen enough. There’s no obligation to buy, of course, but with the most interesting works likely to be snapped up early, we’d recommend visiting in the first few days to avoid being left with the dregs.
Free. Until February 12. Ghaf Gallery

The Saadiyat Story

Pop-art spectacular RSTW might now have left the capital for good (shame on you if didn’t manage to make it down) but there’s still one very good reason to visit the Manarat Al Saadiyat gallery. Open since the middle of last year, permanent exhibition The Saadiyat Story provides an intriguing look at the island’s cultural ambitions, and features scale models of Abu Dhabi’s Louvre and Guggenheim galleries, which are slowly but surely rising out of the sand.
