A new pop art exhibition is coming to Abu Dhabi

Popular Culture & the City will be on display at Manarat Al Saadiyat

The Saadiyat Cultural District is one of the most fascinating areas in Abu Dhabi, and that’s party down to arts centre Manarat Al Saadiyat.

With exhibitions, workshops, performances, pop-up cinemas and art studio spaces, there’s always something brilliant going on here.

But from tomorrow (Wednesday July 17), the gallery will also be opening an amazing new pop art exhibition.

Popular Culture & the City will include art from across Europe, American and the Middle East, with each piece focusing on the relationship between popular culture and the idea of ‘the city’.

Featuring beautiful collages, sculptures, paintings and installations, it looks set to be a totally exciting and absorbing collection.

Among the collection are works from Palestinian artists Wafa Hourani and Taysir Batniji, American artist Keith Haring, French mixed-media artist Jacques Villeglé, and Jeff Koons and Hassan Shatif, whose pieces have been from the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi’s own collection.

The colourful exhibition is open until October 6, and we’ll be racing over to see it as soon as it opens.

If you’re into art, you really can’t afford to miss it.
