Calling all art enthusiasts, the Sharjah Art Foundation has launched a selection of art exhibitions for the summer, and they’re all completely free to check out.
What to expect? Paintings, drawings, sculptures and more.
All the exhibitions are already on show, including the first-ever solo exhibition from painter Andrew Stahl, the seventh iteration of SAF’s annual photography open call exhibition (now with international works), and even an exhibition exploring ‘surface’ as an interface between artists and their surroundings.

Surface Tension
What does ‘surface’ really mean? That’s what artists Mohammad Al Faraj, Minam Apang, Dale Har-ding, Mire Lee, Randa Maroufi and Dala Nasser intend on exploring in art exhibition ‘Surface Ten-sion’. Through works in video, paintings, drawings and sculptures, the artists will look at the associations of the term, from the inconsequential to the everyday, or the slick to the superficial. It’s better seen than talked about, so make sure to see all the works before the exhibition ends on Saturday September 7.

Andrew Stahl
For the first time, the Sharjah Art Foundation presents the first solo exhibition of the work of An-drew Stahl in the Middle East, curated by SAF director Hoor Al Qasimi. Shown previously in plenty of exhibitions across Europe, Asia and America, his work explores notions of transcultural interaction. The exhibition will include a selection of Stahl’s large-scale figurative paintings dating back to the 1970s along with a sculpture made in situ and commissioned by the foundation.
Even better, Stahl will lead an intensive painting workshop to get your own creative ideas flowing.

Vantage Point Sharjah 7 (VPS7)
Are you a photographer at heart? Then you’ll know about the Sharjah Art Foundations annual photography initiative. And if not, you should.
This year for the first time, VPS7 offered both local and international photographers the opportuni-ty to participate in the exhibition, and it’s seen quite the turn out. All the works of art come from a variety of professional backgrounds, skill sets and interests, giving visitors a wide selection of photographic approaches to look at, from documentary research to artistic experimentation.
Have a gander, you may find a new style of photography to get invested in.
