Things to do in Abu Dhabi: check out a new art exhibition at NYUAD

Can you remember your earliest memory?

There is some amazing art on display in Abu Dhabi.

We’ve got stunning works on display at Louvre Abu Dhabi and then there’s the annual Abu Dhabi Art event that showcases amazing modern art from across the region.

NYU Abu Dhabi also offers the community the chance to engage with amazing events, workshops and art, with the launch of their new season.

This week, NYU Abu Dhabi Art Gallery will open a brand new solo exhibition from Wednesday September 25.

Running until October 7, Thymesis will showcase the work of NYUAD Lecturer of Visual Arts and artist Laura Schneider.

The autobiographical exhibition will focus on Hyperthemesia, a medical condition where an individual remembers every single detail of their life.

Showcasing 25 works, the exhibition features a range of mixed-media drawings and sculptures, projections and an ongoing project called Earliest Memory Archive, which will be presented in the form of a phone booth.

Over the past five years Schneider has recorded anonymous audio clips from people across the world sharing their first memory and guests can listen to them inside the phone booth.

An opening reception will be held on Tuesday September 24 from 5.30pm where you can get a sneak preview of the exhibition.

It all sounds interesting to us and now we’re trying to recall our earliest memory.
Free. September 24 to October 7, noon-8pm. NYUAD Arts Center, Saadiyat Island www.nyuad-artgallery.org
