Foo Fighters cancel F1 post-race concert

The rock band was meant to close the Yasalam after-race concerts

The Foo Fighters have cancelled their Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix post-race concert. The iconic rockers were meant to be the final show at the 2021 Yasalam post-race concerts on Sunday December 12. However, the Foo Fighters have cancelled their performance due to “medical circumstances”.

An announcement was shared on Saturday December 11 revealing the news across the Yasalam and F1 social media channels: “Due to unforeseen medical circumstances, The Foo Fighters will not be performing at the Abu Dhabi GP Yasalam After-Race Concert on Sunday 12 December.”

The Foo Fighters also released a statement, reading: “The band apologises for any inconvenience or disappointment caused by this unexpected turn of events.”

The announcement told fans to “stay tuned for further updates” and promised that the F1 finale would still go on.

The Foo Fighters were announced as the final headline act of the concerts. It was meant to be the UAE debut for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group. The long-time band features Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee. They released their debut self-titled album in 1995, and are known for top tunes such as “My Hero,” “Best of You” and “These Days”.

The Foo, as they are known to fans, were part of a major international line-up of talent. Khalid got the party started on Thursday December 9. Then Stormzy made his first appearance in Abu Dhabi on the Etihad Park stage on Friday December 10. On Saturday December 11, Lewis Capaldi performs.
