UAE extends India flight ban

Flights are suspended until May 14

Flights from India to the UAE have been further suspended until May 14.

Flights were originally stopped from Saturday April 24 at 11.59pm for ten days by the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

However, this has now been extended until Friday May 14, and includes flights from both national and international carriers.

Transit flights coming to the UAE and heading to India are not included in the ban, and cargo flights between the UAE and India will continue as normal.

UAE nationals, diplomatic missions between the two countries, official delegations, business planes, and golden residency holders are excluded from the temporary suspension.

Anyone affected by the travel suspension should contact their airline.

A statement on Emirates’ website states “Emirates has suspended passengers flights from India effective 24 April 2021 until 14 May 2021. Furthermore, passengers who have transited through India in the last 14 days will not be accepted to travel from any other point to the UAE.”

Emirates states that you can keep your ticket for a future flight or rebook on another date. For more information visit emirates.com.

Meanwhile, India has banned regular, scheduled international flights into and out of India until midnight on May 31.

“Flights for evacuating overseas Indians will continue. Unless suspended by other countries temporary flying arrangements between specific countries, known as “air bubbles” will also continue,” reads a statement on UAE news agency WAM.
