This top Abu Dhabi Japanese restaurant has a great new tasting menu

99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant has refreshed its menu for the new season

There are countless places to enjoy sushi in Abu Dhabi, but few do it with quite as much style as the very glamorous 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant on Al Maryah Island.

So, if you’ve got a bit of an addiction to all things rice and raw fish, then we’ve got good news for you.

The Japanese restaurant has launched a new tasting menu, and it’s perfect for your next date night. The Natsu menu features nine courses of light, seasonal dishes made with a contemporary twist.

The stunning line-up includes spectacular sushi creations like panko mistura maki with prawn, king crab, avocado and seabass, toro flambé, scallop nigiri and the signature ‘Golden Bricks’ dish of toro tartar served with tobiko and golden leaves (the capital has a bit of a thing for golden food, if you haven’t worked that out yet).

There’s also fatty tuna tartar, a whole sashimi platter, Spanish red shrimps, tiger prawn tempura and incredibly more-ish kobe edamame.

The restaurant is also known for its fantastic quirky dishes (the tuna Japanese pizza is a particular favourite of ours), and it has continued this trend by serving up fatty tuna and smoked beef bacon tacos with chilli, tomatoes and herbs [pictured, above]. Our stomach is rumbling just thinking about this spectacular plate.

But don’t worry, they haven’t forgotten about dessert either. The final course is one for all the chocolate lovers out there, and it stars a rich chocolate fondant served with sweet and creamy caramel ice cream and more decadent gold leaves (it’s so extra, but we love it).

The dinner is available every evening until the end of September, and you can make it extra special by adding a grape paring package to it too.
It will be a meal you’ll remember forever.
Dhs789 (food for two), Dhs999 (with grape pairing). Daily 7pm-11.30pm, until Sep 31. The Galleria, Al Maryah Island (02 672 3333).
