Things to do in Abu Dhabi this weekend: Try a pop-up Vietnamese restaurant

The Little Viet Kitchen is coming to The Shangri-La Hotel Qaryat Al Beri

There are countless amazing places to dine out in Abu Dhabi, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t still love a pop-up restaurant.

The next culinary establishment to visit the capital is the The Little Viet Kitchen, a Vietnamese restaurant based in Islington, London.

The three-day pop up will take place from September 26 to 28 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, and founder Thuy Pham will be cooking up some of her best creations.

Joining her in the kitchen will be her Pham’s mother, who played a huge role in inspiring her to open the business. Having grown up in a small village in the south of Vietnam, all of Thuy’s dishes are full of authentic flavours and fresh ingredients.

She moved with her family to London at the age of eight, and she has been running The Little Viet Kitchen there for the last four years.

The menu for the event at Hoi An begins with a refreshing passion fruit sea bass ceviche, seasoned with coriander, sweet basil and perilla leaves.

Next up, there’s a duck and watermelon taramind salad with a pineapple fish sauce salsa, and also delicate king prawn banh cuon rice balls, which sounds absolutely fantastic to us.

No Vietnamese dinner would be complete without a bowl of pho, and The Little Viet Kitchen’s beef pho incudes six different cuts of beef, including thinly sliced fillet steak and slow-cooked brisket.

Finally, the meal ends of a sweet note with a serving of vietnamese doughnuts, filled with sweet mung bean and served with a coconut cream custard.

To say we are excited to try every one of these special recipes is the biggest understatement ever.
