Abu Dhabi’s best takeaways

Our pick of the best Indian, Chinese, Italian, Lebanese and more food delivery

Summer time often leads to lazy time in Abu Dhabi. All that heat means the last thing you want to do is spend hours in the kitchen. But before you pick up the phone to order some food in, we suggest you let our experts direct you towards the city’s best.

Burgers and sandwiches

Burger Bureau
What we ordered: The all-day breakfast burger, the veggie sandwich, curly chips with cheese, two soft drinks.
How was ordering?
We had to repeat ourselves several times and were disappointed to find two of the starters weren’t available.
Suggested delivery time: 20 minutes.
Time taken:
40 minutes.
Quality of food:
The all-day breakfast burger was overrun with fillings such as egg and guacamole, but was a tad cold. Unfortunately, the cheese for the fries looked like it had come out of a squeezy bottle and tasted more like butter. The veggie sandwich was a disaster and was missing sun dried tomatoes (despite them being listed on the menu). It was a limp affair: one slice of bread was about two inches thick, while the other was about a centimetre thick. We complained and were offered a discount on our next order.
Overall:
There’s potential here, but much improvement is needed. 2.5/5
Al Wahda Mall (800 128 7437).

Bliss House
What we ordered:
Calamari rings, rocca salad, spicy grilled chicken meal, chicken salad.
How was ordering? The lady on the phone was pleasant, although we had to repeat ourselves a couple of times.
Suggested delivery time: 45 minutes.
Time taken: 35 minutes.
Quality of food: The salads we ordered were massive and the chicken salad could easily suffice as a meal on its own. The rocca was fresh, with lots of leaves, Parmesan shavings, mushrooms and walnuts. The sauces, rather handily, comes on the side. The calamari rings were disappointingly limp, however the spicy chicken sub was excellent. This large sandwich of grilled chicken breast with cheese and sauce is a blissful dish we strongly recommend from this venue.
The fries are an excellent accompaniment and you get a soft drink with it when you order a sandwich combo.
Overall: Great sandwiches and salads; however the sides are not impressive. 4/5
Hamdan Street, Tourist Club Area (02 678 6788).

Tim Hortons
What we ordered: Chicken panini, chicken salad sandwich, mac and cheese, 20 Timbits.
How was ordering? The lady taking our call tried to be nice but we had to repeat each part of the order more than once.
Suggested delivery time: 20-30 minutes.
Time taken: 15 minutes.
Quality of food: We really enjoyed the little pot of macaroni and cheese, although the rich fromage wasn’t melted enough. The sandwiches were good and filling, the portions were not overwhelming so there’s no danger of it inducing an afternoon nap. People with a sweet tooth should definitely try the Timbits. The maple syrup bite-sized doughnuts are rather addictive.
Overall: The food at this venue seems to have improved slightly, although they still need to work on their customer service. 3.5/5
Abu Dhabi Mall (052 9958728).

Hardee’s
What we ordered: Chicken tenders with barbecue sauce, mushroom and Swiss cheese burger meal, jalapeno chicken burger meal.
How was ordering: A bit of a mission when we called. The chap at the other end barely spoke a word of English, we were then passed onto someone else who then passed us onto what we believe was some sort of delivery call centre, where our order was finally taken without any trouble.
Suggested delivery time: 45 minutes.
Time taken: 45 minutes.
Quality of food: Given that Hardee’s probably isn’t as well loved as some other burger outlets, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality. The chicken tenders were delightfully succulent and not too overdone, while the mushroom and Swiss cheese burger was tender and juicy. Finally, the jalapeno chicken burger was a real treat and packed full of chilli which added a real kick. The fries weren’t too soggy either. All in all, Hardee’s was, surprisingly, a bit of a winner.
Overall: Cheap, tasty and filling. A quite unexpected treat. Bravo! 4/5
Electra Street (600 569 000).

Chowking
What we ordered: Barbecue squid skewers, spring rolls, vegetable haka noodles, vegetable manchurin dumplings, changmai prawn curry.
How was ordering? Good telephone manner and they explained items on the menu concisely.
Suggested delivery time: 45-60 minutes.
Time taken: 58 minutes.
Quality of food: The squid skewers were more than a little odd. Lacking in taste, they were so rubbery we considered bouncing them off our office walls. The spring rolls were soft and although the portion was huge and stuffed with veg, they were bland. The haka noodles came with an odd, artificial odour but again were a flavour vacuum. The vegetable manchurin, though, were excellent. These dumplings came with a thick, soy dipping sauce and were incredibly moreish. The changmai prawn curry was similar to a Thai green yet lacking, again, in flavour and spice.
Overall: Very average Chinese food simply not worth the long wait. 2.5/5
Al Markaziyah (02 633 4727).

Shanghai Surprise
What we ordered: Tom yum soup, chicken in black bean sauce, flat Shanghai noodles with chicken and prawns, vegetable spring rolls.
How was ordering? The man who took our order was friendly and helpful.
Suggested delivery time: 45 minutes.
Time taken: 80 minutes.
Quality of food: Nothing suffered for travelling; all of the dishes were still hot. The soup was strangely lemony but the noodles had a very generous serving of prawns and chicken. The black bean sauce was very satisfying and the vegetable spring rolls delicate and delicious.
Overall: A little expensive but one of the better Chinese eateries in the city. 4/5
Al Markaziyah (02 678 7700).

Royal Orchid
What we ordered: Tom yum soup with prawns, green curry with chicken, nasi goreng, baby bok choy in soya sauce.
How was ordering? The lady on the phone was polite and patient.
Suggested delivery time: 60 minutes.
Time taken: 25 minutes.
Quality of food: The food arrived warm and freshly made, with only the soup being a little less than piping hot. The fried egg accompanying the nasi goreng was served in a separate container to ensure it didn’t go soggy.
Overall: Great Thai food delivered to the door. Decent Chinese options, too. 4/5
Salaam Street (02 677 9911).

The Noodle House
What we ordered: Chicken siu mai dumplings, Thai chicken with cashew, Indonesian chicken curry.
How was ordering? Polite and quick.
Suggested delivery time: 45 minutes.
Time taken: 45 minutes.
Quality of food: The dumplings were unfortunately lukewarm and a little bit too greasy for our liking. The Indonesian curry was great. This tub of noodles was full of big chunks of tender chicken and a milky, coconut-infused sauce. The Thai chicken and cashew was a mixed bag. We were warned it would be super spicy, but it had no kick at all. The chicken was a little bit chewy in parts.
Overall: It’s not the cheapest joint in town so we expected more. 3/5
Al Wahda Mall (02 443 7391).

Hanoi Café
What we ordered: Summer rolls, bun dish and beef pho.
How was ordering? Simple and quick.
Suggested delivery time: 30 minutes.
Time taken: 30 minutes.
Quality of food: The rolls were big and filled with prawns, noodles and fresh vegetables. The pho doesn’t travel well but is still a tasty broth brimming with beef, noodles and shallots. We also liked the chicken bun dish; salad, noodles and meat mixed into a big bowl.
Overall: Excellent food and a much healthier option than many takeaways. 4/5
Khalifa Street (02 626 1112).

Thai Express
What we ordered: Tom yum kai soup, red chicken curry and prawn and chicken pad Thai.
How was ordering? Ordering was simple and staff were friendly.
Suggested delivery time: 30 minutes.
Time taken: 20 minutes.
Quality of food: Ginger, lemongrass and chilli combined perfectly in the soup.
The chicken and prawn pad Thai was rammed with meat, noodles with peanuts and shallots on top. It was delicious without tasting too fishy. The red curry packed a punch and the chicken was very tender.
The verdict: Decent Thai served quickly and good value for money. 4/5
Al Wahda Mall (02 443 7570).

Lebanese

Automatic
What we ordered: Tabbouleh, falafel sandwich, falafel plate, grilled meat thyme, fries.
How was ordering? Not great. It took two waiters to take our telephone order because the first one couldn’t understand us.
Suggested delivery time: 30 minutes.
Time taken: 35 minutes.
Quality of food: The tabbouleh was fresh and tasty and not too oily, the falafel sandwich was a flavour-free zone and short on falafels. The falafel plate was a treat, but we didn’t get as many as advertised on the menu. The grilled meat thyme consisted of a big plate of lamb, which was nicely spiced and cooked, the only disappointment being a couple of bits of fat masquerading as lamb cubes. The french fries were soggy
but the portion was, again, a monster.
The great thing about Automatic? Your meal almost doubles in weight what with all the free breads, pickles and salads they give with your order. We had enough food for three meals for two people.
Overall: Flavoursome Lebanese fare at great prices, although you will find better in the city. 3.5/5
Al Markaziyah (02 677 9782).

Beirut Grill
What we ordered: One ‘daily dish’ of laban ummo, kibbeh, hummus, moutabbal and mixed grill.
How was ordering? Orders need to be over Dhs100 or else they don’t deliver.
Suggested delivery time: 50-60 minutes.
Time taken: 60 minutes.
Quality of food: The food arrived hot and with lots of extra bread. The quality of the cuisine was average with many of the dishes simply too salty. The daily dish consisted of a large plastic box of rice and another large container with warm yogurt and meat. The dish left us chugging on bottles of water for hours after. The kibbeh is not their strong suit, although the hummus and moutabbal were good. The mixed grill was nothing beyond ordinary and the portion was much smaller than what most Lebanese eateries offer.
Overall: The price limit forces a large order and the meal was too salty. 2.5/5
Al Wahda Mall (02 443 7655).

Mora
What we ordered: Falafel plate, vine leaves, tabbouleh, zaatar with cheese manakeesh.
How was ordering: Ordering was easy and the staff were friendly.
Suggested delivery time: 30 minutes.
Time taken: 30 minutes.
Quality of food: The vine leaves came as a large portion and were drizzled with lemon. It’s a dish definitely worth ordering again. The falafel plate was served up on a bed of salad with tahini on the side, and while the taste of the chickpeas was a delight, they were a little bit dry. The tabbouleh was a little on the soggy side, although the flavours go some way to make up for it. If you want something a little bit more on the carbs side of things the zaatar with cheese manakeesh is great.
The verdict: Decent Lebanese food at good prices. 3.5/5
Tourist Club Area (02 645 5532).

Al Saj
What we ordered: Kaskkawan saj, cheese and zaatar saj, avocado salad, falafel platter, molasses dip.
How was ordering? A polite and pleasant experience. No problems.
Suggested delivery time: 45 minutes.
Time taken: 50 minutes.
Quality of food: The saj sandwiches were good, they were large so could easily be shared. The salad was fresh and a hefty portion and it was overflowing with at least four avocados. We enjoyed the falafel plate, although the tahini sauce was a little too thick for our tastes. Unfortunately, there were no chilies, however there was a small container of olives and pickles, as well as two kinds of Arabic bread. The molasses dip is an excellent way to end the meal and we scooped up chunks with the thick Arabic bread.
Overall: A positive experience with decent fare and plenty of extras with your order. 4/5
Electra Street, Madinat Zayed (02 676 6568).

Zaatar w Zeit
What we ordered: Halloumi sticks, breaded chicken, fattoush, fries, turkey and cheese saj, cheese moutabbal saj and a spicy chicken saj.
How was ordering? The lady was very courteous and pleasant.
Suggested delivery time: 45 minutes.
Time taken: 35 minutes.
Quality of food: The food arrived warm and the packaging was one of the best of all the takeaways we tried. We loved the large saj sandwiches and the breaded chicken appetiser – the mustard dipping sauce was excellent. The halloumi sticks were good, too, as were the fries. The venue’s special take on the fattoush salad is one of our favourites; the portion is large and with bits of brown bread and halloumi cheese, making for a great lunchtime meal. We appreciate Zaatar w Zeit giving diners an option for multi-cereal dough on all of their saj sandwiches; it shaves off a bit of the guilt.
Overall: It might be a little pricey for daily lunch, but it’s always a reliable option. 5/5
Various locations, for delivery call (600 522 231).

Lebanese Flower
What we ordered: Hummus, tabbouleh, lamb cutlets, shish tawook, falafel.
How was ordering? Ordering was trouble free, though not overly polite. Arabic speakers will find the process easier.
Suggested delivery time: 45 minutes.
Time taken: 30 minutes.
Quality of food: The chicken was perfectly cooked and not at all dry, the huge portion of lamb chops were fantastically marinated and grilled to be just done. Both were served with an unappetising portion of fries that are really best avoided and a generous amount of the fantastic garlic dip. Two extra portions of hummus accompanied the chicken and lamb and the falafels were served with everything needed to make falafel shawarmas (parsley, tomatoes, pickles and tahini). The falafels were the only thing that didn’t arrive in peak condition and were a little cold.
Overall: The food is reliably good and the portions are generous. 5/5
Salaam Street, Tourist Club Area (02 645 6338).

Soulfull
What we ordered: Vegetable and halloumi salad, ras el hanout couscous salad, grilled shrimps, potato wedges, lentil soup.
How was ordering? A breeze. Polite telephone manner and friendly service.
Suggested delivery time: 40 minutes.
Time taken: 37 minutes.
Quality of food: The grilled veg and halloumi salad and ras el hanout couscous salad (steak, raisins, sweet corn, chickpeas) were bursting with goodness. Full of fresh ingredients and served in gigantic, clear plastic boxes, each portion lasted three sittings: it’s not every day you can say you’ve been beaten by a salad. Nutritional info is printed on each box, which is a nice touch. Their sides are a strong-point as well. The grilled shrimps were cooked to perfection with subtle spices and warmed up our tastebuds nicely. The lentil soup was also a cracker: so thick it was almost a meal in itself. One gripe? Our wedges were under cooked.
Overall: Food that’s good for you and actually tastes good. 3/5
Muroor Road, Al Mamoura (02 643 3669).

Mirabel
What we ordered: Warm Thai beef salad and chicken mango salad.
How was ordering: Placing our order was simple and easy.
Suggested delivery time: 50 minutes.
Time taken: 50 minutes.
Quality of food: The packaging was very nice although way too much and over the top, and the meat for both salads had been separated. The Thai beef salad lost points for presentation but it made up for it with some delectable flavours. The chicken mango salad was a winner with large chunks of fruit that made it zesty and fresh.
The verdict: Pricey but moreish café fare. 3/5
Fotouh Al Khair Centre, Al Markaziyah (02 631 5111).

Nathalie’s Café
What we ordered: Spicy pepperoni lasagne, quinoa and grilled vegetable salad, s’more cookies, rocky road, minted citrus juice.
How was ordering? They only take orders over Dhs150 if delivering beyond Khalifa Park
Suggested delivery time: 40 minutes.
Time taken: 35 minutes.
Quality of food: The lasagna was beautifully cooked with lots of pepperoni and a nice cheesy topping, yet we didn’t feel stodgy after eating it. The quinoa and grilled vegetable salad was delicious with lots of peppers, courgette and squash. Drinks were nice and healthy, too, and full of fresh fruit (always nice to get a big hit of vitamins). The rocky road was sweet and chunky and the smore cookie was decadent without being too much of a sin.
Overall: Excellent, healthy food and drinks. Shame about the minimum order fee. 4/5
Twofour54 building, Khalifa Park (02 441 1330).

India Palace
What we ordered: Chicken tikka masala, gosht kali mirch, garlic naan.
How was ordering? Service was great here and there were no problems whatsoever.
Suggested delivery time: 40 minutes.
Time taken: 40 minutes.
Quality of food: The chicken tikka was charming – the chicken had been grilled on a skewer and was served in a savoury tomato sauce. The lamb in the gosht kali mirch was tender and delivered a flavour wallop. Even the garlic naan was tasty and was a decent portion.
The verdict: Excellent takeaway curry with great service. 3.5/5
Salaam Street (02 644 8777).

Kwality
What we ordered: Butter chicken, samosas, hari bhari tikki, tandoori jinga, chicken and shrimp tikka, dark dahl and naan bread.
How was ordering? Professional, prompt and polite.
Suggested delivery time: 45-50 minutes.
Time taken: 50 minutes.
Quality of food: The food tasted great but was a little heavy. The huge samosas and hari bhari tikki were superb. We also loved the butter chicken and dark dahl, which were rich and soothing. We asked for the dishes to be spicy and they were infused with just the right amount of heat to give each bite a kick (without overpowering the flavour). Our only major grumble was with the packaging; a lot of the sauce had spilled out of the tikka dishes and the bag looked more like a crime scene.
Overall: The food was exactly what we expected – all the flavours and spices were great. The food just needs to travel better. 4/5
Salaam Street, Al Markaziyah (02 672 7337).

Arab Udupi
What we ordered: Aloo gobi, paneer mutter, dahl fry, chicken tikka, lemon rice, garlic naan.
How was ordering? We were passed to one other person on the phone, who then took our order. The man on the phone was friendly and took the order accurately. There was a small amount of confusion regarding the delivery location but it was resolved quickly and without error.
Suggested delivery time: 45 minutes.
Time taken: 45 minutes.
Quality of food: Ordering from Arab Udupi can sometimes be a bit hit or miss, but on this occasion everything was excellent. We particularly like the dahl tadka (yellow dahl fry) which is on the watery side but packs a punch in the flavour stakes.
Overall: A solid and reliable Indian takeaway option. 3.5/5
Various locations including Hamdan Street (02 672 1522).

Chappan Bhog
What we ordered: Bhel puri, onion bhajia, masala dosa, North Indian thali, mango lassi, chocolate milkshake.
How was ordering? Phone at the wrong time of day and you won’t be able to get some items off the menu. Make sure you speak slowly and clearly.
Suggested delivery time: 60 minutes.
Time taken: 35 minutes.
Quality of food: The bhel puri (puffed rice, onions, herbs) came in a massive white tub and was crunchy and fresh. The onion bhajia was a spicier than expected, with fresh chillies sliced inside but, again, was a playful experience for our tastebuds. They do a great dosa and they even manage to stop their delivery ones from going soggy. You get a selection of delightful curries, dhals and sweets with the thali. The mango lassi was deliciously rich, although the chocolate milkshake could have been a bit thicker and might have benefitted from an extra scoop of ice cream.
Overall: One of our favourite Indian restaurants in Abu Dhabi. 4/5
Electra and Salaam Streets (02 677 8864).

Zaika
What we ordered: kebab platter, masala dosa, vegetable biryani, paneer makhani.
How was ordering? It took seven minutes. Language barriers can be an issue here.
Suggested delivery time: 60 minutes.
Time taken: 45 minutes.
Quality of food: The meat on the kebab platter, a mixture of chicken and lamb, was elegantly spiced and cooked to perfection. The masala dosa was a standout dish, with extra points scored for the large amount of veg bursting out of the pancake. A huge tub of vegetable biryani was also full of fresh vegetables, with a spicy dry curry hiding underneath all the rice. The paneer makhani came covered in a rich, tomato sauce and a big helping of the cheese.
Overall: It’s based in a mall but this is restaurant quality food. 4/5
Khalidiyah Mall (050 318 1515).

Il Forno
What we ordered: Vegetarian pizza, pepperoni pizza, Caesar salad, mango salad and vegetarian lasagna.
How was ordering? The gentleman was extremely friendly on the phone.
Suggested delivery time: 45 minutes.
Time taken: 40 minutes.
Quality of food: The food arrived warm and tasted great. The portions were large and we enjoyed the pizza, which had a thin crust and was generously adorned with toppings. The vegetarian lasagna was also delicious, with a thick béchamel sauce. The salads were large and the mango salad worked well with the scrumptious blue cheese dressing. The Caesar salad was great for sharing.
Overall: The food is hearty and the portions are certainly large. 5/5
Various locations including Abu Dhabi Mall (02 644 7511).

Pizza Amore
What we ordered: Calabrese pizza, ravioli ziogivanni.
How was ordering: Novel and amusing but easy. No lingo problems here.
Suggested delivery time: 45 minutes.
Time taken: 30 minutes.
Quality of food: The pizza was excellent. A proper thin crust meant it was all down to the toppings to deliver on taste, which they did with aplomb. A subtle ratio of mozzarella, salami and chilli all worked in harmony, as opposed to being too greasy or overwhelming. Concerns our meal might all go wrong with the pasta proved to be short-lived. Mince meat with a cheese sauce doesn’t sound like it should work, but work it does.
Overall: Fantastic Italian fare. Their pizzas are generally all decent, but we’ve finally found a pasta dish they do we actually love. 3.5/5
Tourist Club Area (02 644 9990).

Api Cae Gourmet
What we ordered: Insalata caprese, tagliatelle ai quattro formaggi, ravioli ai gamberi con pomodorini.
How was ordering: The man taking our order was helpful, made suggestions and apologised when some of our original requests weren’t on the menu.
Suggested delivery time: 45-60 minutes.
Time taken: 45 minutes.
Quality of food: The classic insalata caprese (tomato and mozzarella salad) didn’t disappoint. Huge fists of fresh, creamy mozzarella nestled on some chunky cuts of juicy, ripe tomatoes got things off to a fantastic start. It was pretty much downhill from there, though. The ravioli ai gamberi con pomodorini (homemade prawn-filled ravioli in a tomato sauce) in particular, was a real letdown. The portion was criminally small, especially given the price, while the tomato sauce it was served with was nothing special and the prawn lacked any real flavour at all. Finally, the tagliatelle ai quattro formaggi (four cheese tagliatelle) fared slightly better. The fresh pasta was nice enough but the sauce, again, was decidedly average and within a few minutes the whole thing had congealed together.
Overall: The restaurant experience might be very different but Api Cae’s takeaway quality really needs to up its game. 2.5/5
Khalidiyah Tower A, Khalidiyah (02 666 8909).

Biancorosso
What we ordered: Margherita pizza and carbonara pasta.
How was ordering: The staff here are so cheery and friendly.
Suggested delivery time: 30 minutes.
Time taken: 30 minutes.
Quality of food: Their pizzas arrive piping hot every time. The margherita is simple but oh so tasty. It has the signature Biancorosso thin crust – crunchy yet perfectly chewy and the tomato sauce is topped off with just the right amount of mozzarella. The carbonara was also a winner and it arrived nice and hot. We are still sticking to our guns and saying this is one of the most authentic pizzerias in Abu Dhabi.
The verdict: Excellent hot pizza every time. 5/5
Y Tower, Near Al Mamoura Building (02 658 4288).

Figaro’s Pizza
What we ordered: Large creamy garlic chicken thin crust pizza, garden salad.
How was ordering? After following an automated menu to choose either English or Arabic, we spoke to a nice woman who took our order with minimal difficulty but did feel the need to repeat our selections (as well as our location) back to us twice.
Suggested delivery time: 40-45 minutes.
Time taken: 27 minutes.
Quality of food: The salad was fresh and crisp, no wilting to be seen. While the pizza could have been a little hotter, it was still warm enough with generous toppings and a nice, firm base.
Overall: Figaro’s won’t win any pizza of the year awards, but when you just need something quick and tasty this definitely hits the spot. 4/5
Marina Mall (600 522 526).

Russo’s New York Pizzeria
What we ordered: Calamari fritti, arancini and a New York Village pizza.
How was ordering: The lady taking our order was patient and made light of the fact we couldn’t understand each other’s accents.
Suggested delivery time: 45 minutes.
Time taken: 35 minutes.
Quality of food: The calamari fritti was tender and lightly seasoned. The arancini fell just short of being bland. Although filling and tasty enough the traditional rice balls filled with mozzarella and bolognese sauce weren’t exactly mind-blowing. Weighing in at 16 inches, the pizza was a bit of a whopper crammed full of beef pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, peppers, beef and white onion. Again, it was tasty but our delivery chap failed on one crucial element of pizza delivery: KEEP THE BOX FLAT!
Overall: The food was decent enough and we’d order again. 3/5
Al Wahda Mall (02 445 6030).

Broccoli
What we ordered: Family-size deluxe pizza.
How was ordering: Probably one of the most efficient. Great phone manner.
Suggested delivery time: 45 minutes.
Time taken: 35 minutes.
Quality of food: When we first saw the box arrive we were quite taken aback at the sheer size of it. A family pizza equates to a gargantuan 19 inches. Then we opened the box. Oh dear. Our delivery man had failed, yet again, to KEEP THE BOX FLAT!
After a bit of emergency pizza surgery, we managed to get all the toppings (pepperoni, cheese, mushrooms, peppers and olives) pretty much as you’d hoped to have it delivered, so it was fine in the end. Taste-wise, though, we weren’t big fans. The bread was the big problem, mainly because it was ridiculously thick and there was no need to dive in for a second sample. All in all it reminded us of a giant kids’ frozen pizza. Not one of our favourites.
Overall: Far too much bread and the pizza lacked any real punch. 2/5
Al Khalidiyah (02 666 6025).

Sushi Central
What we ordered: Single order sashimi platter, crispy salmon and avocado roll, two portions of edamame sea salt.
How was ordering? The woman on the phone was nice and friendly, spoke clearly and understood us easily. There was comical confusion regarding extra soy sauce.
Suggested delivery time: 30-45 minutes.
Time taken: 40 minutes.
Quality of food: The sushi and sashimi were extremely fresh, the edamame were perfectly cooked and none of the food suffered for travelling a short way
(from Khalidiyah Mall to Tourist Club). The packaging is also very cute.
Overall: Finally there is excellent and reasonably-priced sushi available for delivery in Abu Dhabi. 5/5
Al Khalidiyah (600 520 007).

Samurai
What we ordered: Saba set teppan – teppanyaki-cooked mackerel steak with mixed vegetables, served with miso soup, steamed rice, salad, pickles and an appetiser.
How was ordering? Quick and entirely painless. Excellent telephone manner.
Suggested delivery time: 45 minutes.
Time taken: 26 minutes.
Quality of food: The mackerel was fantastically cooked, with crispy skin and soft flesh, but beware – a few bones may still be lurking. The dressing for the salad is one of the finest we’ve ever had and the mixed vegetables are tastier than should be possible for a simple dish. Our only complaint is that the fish is served in the same compartment of the plastic box it’s
all delivered in, so the fish gets a little soggy in the liquid from the vegetables.
Overall: Great and very authentic Japanese food. We’d order again. 4/5
Mina Road, Al Markaziyah (02 676 6612).
