Three great pizza restaurants to try in Abu Dhabi this week

Time Out-recommended meals to book

Abu Dhabi has loads of wonderful restaurants where you can tuck into top pizza. We’re never shy to tuck into a slice or two and we’ve tried more than our fair share across the city.

Looking for a new pizza joint? Read our reviews below.

Blaze Pizza

Blaze Pizza is definitely different. Set up like a well known submarine sandwich chain, when you get pizza here it’s completely customisable and you can watch as dough becomes pizza in just a few minutes in front of your eyes. Select a base from the standard, gluten-free and high-rise options, and either pick one of Blaze Pizza’s favourites or choose your own toppings. Neither Neapolitan nor New York style, the pie has a thin crust, is perfectly cooked and the toppings are plentiful without spilling out all over the place in a cheesy mess. It’s a great pizza with zero fuss.

Cafe Milano

Cafe Milano is inarguably sophisticated but the focus is on making unfussy, delicious food. The eclectic dining room, with platinum albums on the wall and sculptures hanging from the ceiling, is often busy. And with views towards the beautiful city skyline it’s not hard to see why the terrace is popular. We don’t say this lightly, but the pizza is possibly the best in the city. The crust is perfect, bubbled and lightly charred, and the ratio of toppings is spot on. The bresoala version, with peppery rocket and parmesan shavings, is wonderful but the salami option, with creamy mozzarella and fiery red chilli is a love letter to Italy. It’s flawless.

Napo

Napo is one of a number of cool restaurants dotted around Marsa Al Bateen. The venue is cosy, chic and modern, with exposed brick walls, beautifully ornate tiled floors and dim lighting. One of the first things you’ll notice is the beautiful pizza oven, a focal point of the room, with roaring wood fire inside. Try the Napo pizza and the diavola. The crust is perfect, the toppings are generous without being overdone and like any good slice, it’s best eaten folded in half. This is a new contender for the best pizza joint in town.
