A new study has delved into the finances behind hops – namely, how much a bottle will cost you around the globe and which countries it’s most popular in.
Conducted by Expensivity, the World Hops Index 2021 is jam-packed with insight that hops nerds and world travellers will find fascinating.
Of course, it’s no surprise that the study’s most startling stat was found in Germany, where residents spend an average of $1,907.78 (close to Dhs7,000) per year on hops.
Those on a budget should put South Africa on their travel list: the country boasts the cheapest hops in the world, with the average bottle ringing up at $1.68 (Dhs6.17).
On the other end of the spectrum, the most expensive glass on the planet can be found in Qatar, where an ice-cold hops will cost an average of $11.26 (Dhs41.36).
