Shangri-La hotels across the UAE have launched a menu of mooncakes

The sweet treats include flavours from the UAE, Turkey and India

Shang Palace restaurants serve some of the best Asian food in the UAE, and in honour of the East-Asian mid-Autumn festival, the restaurant has launched a range of special mooncakes at its branches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

According to tradition, Chinese emperors prepared mooncakes to pay tribute to the moon every autumn.

The honour the ritual, Shangri-La hotels across the UAE, Turkey and India have come together to produce a selection of the cakes, each made with regional flavours.

Along with Middle Eastern-flavoured date, pistachio and saffron, you can pick up options with lotus-seed paste, coconut green tea, red beans and mixed nuts.

Sold in beautiful boxes decorated with star constellations, they could come in handy as a gift for someone special (or just to yourself).

Boxes of four are available for Dhs288 from September 1 to 13, but you can get a 20 percent discount if you order before September 5.

They’re available from the Shangri-La, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi and Shangri-La Hotel Dubai.
