A traditional fish and chip shop is coming to Abu Dhabi

You’ll even be able to get deep-fried Mars bars at The Chippy

If you’re a British or Irish expat here in Abu Dhabi there are bound to be things you miss from home.

Proper cups of tea, rain showers (yes, really), being endlessly polite about everything all the time and, of course, fish and chips.

Sure, you can get fish and chips in many restaurants and bars in the UAE, and they’re usually pretty good, but nothing comes close to getting a supper from your local chip shop.

But, things now look like they’re about to change as a British-style fish and chips restaurant in opening in Abu Dhabi.

Simply named The Chippy, it will open its doors on Reem Island on in the next few weeks and we’re already hungry.

The official opening date is yet to be confirmed but the venue is located in Mangrove Place near Shams Boutik.

You will be able to order suppers, chips, and pick up a few much-loved items from the UK and Ireland at the shop, which hopes to make being an expat a little bit easier.

Both the fish and the potatoes are being brought over from Ireland to Abu Dhabi to make the meals as authentic as possible.

So what’s on offer?

You can choose a selection of suppers including haddock and cod for Dhs68, scampi for Dhs65 or fish goujons for Dhs47.

There’s also chips and gravy, chips and curry sauce for Dhs24, a selection pie suppers from Dhs47 and fried chicken options available too.

Plus they’ll even be serving the legendary Scottish dish, the deep-fried mars bar, which you can try for Dhs15.

That’s right, a Mars bar, deep fried in batter.

We’ll be first in line for this one and will announce more details including the opening date once its been announced.
