WATCH: Old-school Dubai Creek restaurant favoured by royalty

This Persian restaurant in Deira has been around since 1984

It’s time to be treated to rich traditions and Persian cuisine at our next Local Legend – long-standing Deira favourite Shabestan—radisson-blu.

This Iranian restaurant overlooking Dubai Creek first opened its doors in 1984 and hasn’t changed much over the years, but it doesn’t need to – not to mention the fact regulars revolt at the first sign of any attempt to modernise.

Housed in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek and with some spectacular views of Dubai Creek, this local legend is famed for its heart-warming hospitality, stand-out Persian décor, expertly made kebabs and superb Iranian dishes.

Many of the restaurant’s staff have been working here for more than 30 years and they know their guests personally, as well as the families that have been visiting Shabestan for generations.

If it’s your first time dining at the longstanding Persian spot, feel at ease letting the team explain the menu and the restaurant’s rich history, all of which will help you get to know the place better and feel as though you too have been dining here for decades.

There are plenty of authentically made dishes not to be missed including the signature ghormeh sabzi – a fragrant stew filled with tender chunks of lamb.

Time Out’s Local Legends series airs every Thursday on the Time Out GCC YouTube channel, celebrating some of Dubai’s most-loved and longest-standing foodie destinations.

There are still more brilliant eateries to come (it’s just so darn tasty out there) so make sure to subscribe and keep your eyes peeled here for updates.
