The saying goes that the best things in life are free. But it seems that rule doesn’t apply at Bombay Borough in DIFC, where an edible gold-trimmed biryani has come in as the world’s most expensive.
The 23-karat gold dish comprises Kashmiri lamb seekh kebabs, old Delhi lamb chops, rajput chicken kebabs, Mughlai koftas, and malai chicken served on a bed of saffron-infused biryani, plus that all important edible gilding – and will set diners back a whopping Dhs1,000.
The Royal Gold Biryani platter has been added to the menu to mark the first birthday of the restaurant.
Don’t worry, servers don’t expect you to see off the regal feast single handedly.
The plate serves between four and six diners but be prepared to chat over drinks before getting stuck in, as chefs need around 45 minutes to fully craft the golden affair.
Come hungry.
Open Mon-Wed 11.30am-11.30pm, Thu and Fri 11.30am-1.30am, Sat 11.30am-midnight, Sun noon-11.30pm, Gate Village 3, DIFC, www.bombayborough.com/dubai.html (04 327 1555).
