Rooms with a view

Abu Dhabi’s best hotel rooms high in the sky

Got a spare Dhs100,000? Then treat yourself to a night in the Abu Dhabi Suite in St Regis Abu Dhabi. At over 200m above ground, it’s the world’s highest suspended suite – it’s the penthouse that joins the two Nation Towers together, with nothing below it.
The suite’s floor-to-ceiling windows mean you can enjoy 360-degree views of Abu Dhabi Marina, Lulu Island and the Arabian Gulf on either side. At 1,120sqm, it stretches over the 48th and 49th floors and comes with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a spa with all the works and a study, lounge bar and dining room with a 10-seat round table. It even has a five-seat theatre. In case that doesn’t feel exclusive enough, your personal butler will help you access it by a private lift from reception – after you’ve arrived in a chauffeur-driven Bentley, of course.

For a view of the beaches along the Corniche and Lulu Island, visit shisha café La Fontana on the 19th floor of Das Building. The rooftop café is popular with locals enjoying its speciality fried ice cream (Dhs30) – the flavour of your choice is encased in Swiss roll then flash-fried in breadcrumbs.

Enjoy high tea 300m above ground at Observation Deck at 300, the highest lounge in the city. Your ears will pop as your shoot up to level 72 of Jumeirah at Etihad Towers. The telescopes and floor to ceiling windows help you make the most of the view, so visit on a clear day.
Dhs75, Dhs50 of which is refunded on food and drink. Observation Deck at 300, Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, Corniche West, www.jumeirah.com (02 811 5666).

As Observation Deck at 300 closes at 6pm, if you want a night-time view, go for mixed drinks at Ray’s Bar on level 62. Enjoy views of the city from the front and islands at the back.

Party with DJ Rose RC at Club So-Hi, the glitzy rooftop bar on the 12th floor of Aloft, at 70m high. Sit indoors or outside on the terrace for views of Hyatt Capital Gate and the creek between the mainland and Al Muzoon.

On a warm evening, soak up the views of south-west Abu Dhabi from 18°, the restaurant on the 18th floor of Hyatt Capital Gate.

At 160m and 35 storeys, the Hyatt is one of the tallest buildings in the city, so the panorama is impressive day or night. From the outdoor terrace you’ll be able to see the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) and the channel between the mainland and Hodariyat Island.
