It’s been a long six months for parents of school age children – we get it, we have been there with you every step of the way.
First, there was week after week of distance learning that was followed by a seemingly never-ending summer holiday.
However, the end is finally in sight as kids across Dubai and Abu Dhabi are getting ready to go back to school.
But while parents would normally be concentrating now on buying new school shoes and ticking items off their school’s uniform list, the global pandemic has led to a new twist on the usual start-of-a-new-academic-year excitement.

So we’ve chatted to Michael Gernon, Chief Education Innovation Officer at GEMS Education, who explains exactly what parents and children can expect on their first day of school and beyond.
