Late night sport in Abu Dhabi

Where to work out late into the night in Abu Dhabi

Haddin’s Gym
A lot of gyms are extending their opening hours this month, which is great news for fitness junkies. If your regular is closing then consider signing up to Haddin’s, which is staying open until midnight. It’s a great place to work out and offers a huge range of classes including boxing, circuit training, a running club, TRX, Pilates, Zumba and yoga. You’ll be spoilt for choice.

Night-time tennis
Okay, so we know it’s really hot outside even at night and sometimes after exercising in this city you end up looking like you’ve been for a swim. But if you fancy practising your serve or your swing after iftar, you’re in luck, because the tennis courts at Zayed Sports City will be staying open until midnight throughout Ramadan. So book yourself in early for a night-time session as slots get filled up quickly. It may be hot, hard work but it will all pay off come winter time when you’ve improved your skills.

Ice skating
Try a late-night skate at the ice rink to get some exercise while keeping really cool. If you can’t make it during Ramadan, their popular disco nights on Thursdays and Sundays start again once the Holy Month is over.
Dhs40 for a 1.5 hour session or Dhs90 for a 30 minute private lesson. Zayed Sports City ice rink, 2:30pm-midnight during Ramadan (02 403 4200).

Late-night bowling
Get your friends together or take the family to Khalifa Bowling Center for a session that continues right the way through until midnight. The 40-lane bowling center is equipped with automatic scoring systems and bumpers for children, plus big TVs that display your scores. The onsite restaurant will be serving snacks too, so no one will go hungry.
Khalifa International Bowling Center, 3pm-midnight (02 403 4200).

After-hours football training
There’s no need to give up your football training during Ramadan because there are plenty of options for a game or two. If you can stand the humidity, Zayed Sports City’s pitches are open until midnight. But if you’d prefer a cool, air-conditioned game, book a pitch inside The Dome’s inflatable space, which is also open until midnight.

Once you’ve dined on one of the fantastic iftars at The Sheraton, work off those calories at Sheraton Fitness. They’ll be open from 7am to midnight every day. They have a great gym with loads of equipment plus two squash courts (Dhs50 per person per hour), two tennis courts (Dhs45 per person per hour), a relaxation area, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi.
