They are a pair of high-flying, rim-rocking professional athletes who have each played more than a decade with one of the world’s most famous basketball teams.
I, on the other hand, am a British assistant online editor for Time Out who spends a couple of nights a week playing very un-athletic basketball against US expats at an American school in Dubai.
So when my editor suggested I take on visiting Globetrotters Anthony ‘Buckets’ Blakes and Kris ‘Hi-Lite’ Bruton, perhaps I should have run a mile. Quite slowly. Instead, I gamely volunteered to try my hand at some of their skills, dunks and trick shots – including the 35ft ‘four-point shot’.
