Fifa U-17 stars of old

The names who made their mark first in the youth World Cup

Ronaldinho
During his run at Barcelona, the Brazilian attacking midfielder was considered the finest player on the planet. His silky skills and tricks made him a Champions League winner in 2005 and a World Cup winner in 2002.

Alessandro del Piero
The Italian forward played for Juventus for 19 years, where he captained the team for an impressive 11 years. During his time with the Italian giants he won six Serie A league titles (an additional two medals were removed following a match-fixing scandal) and the Champions League. The Italian icon also won the Fifa World Cup in 2006.

Luis Figo
The Portuguese star will probably be remembered in Spain for his controversial €60m move from Catalan giants Barcelona to arch rivals Real Madrid – a move which upset the Catalonian club’s fan base so much it caused them to throw an animal’s head on the pitch. Controversy aside, in Spain he won the league four times and in Italy he won the league with Internazionale four times (so he was quite good).
