Young artists invited to submit work to The Seed in Abu Dhabi

A series of 20cm square blocks will be transformed into a wall of art

Abu Dhabi’s newest public work of art The Seed is an ever-changing kinetic sculpture on Jubail Island.

It was a major part of the UAE’s Nationl Day celebrations that were livestreamed around the world and is now on display for the public to view.

From 6pm to 8pm every day except Sunday there will be an audio visual experience at the cube-shaped installation that visitors can watch.

Now, young artists across the country are being invited to add their own creative touch to the piece, which will be on display until January 30, 2021.

A collection of 20cm square blocks will be decorated and tacked to produce a colourful wall of art. The brief for youngsters is to paint their vision of the future of the UAE.

No more information on how kids can get involved has been released yet so watch this space.

There is also a polaroid wall that features images of visitors in front of the  cube, a ‘Lest We Forget’ gift shop, and an exhibition that includes sketches of the conceptualising of the sculpture.

Tickets to the show are Dhs30 for anyone over 18 and Dhs15 for children aged seven to 17. Money from the tickets will go towards mangrove conservation.
Dhs30 (adults), Dhs15 (kids aged seven-17), free (under sevens). Until Jan 30. Jubail Mangrove Park, Jubail Island, uaenationalday.ae.
