There it is, the weekend, nearly within your grasp. Wondering what things you can do with the kids on Friday and Saturday in the UAE? We’ve got seven ideas that should give everyone something to look forward to.

Check out OliOli’s new drop-off programme for the kids

Got kids between five and nine? You can now drop them off at OliOli every weekday afternoon at 3pm and pick them up again at 5pm thanks to the launch of a new programme at the educational children’s museum. Sessions cost Dhs160 and focus on various themes including something new, science, inventing, adventures and art.

Whip these winter warmers up in the kitchen

Catch Tom and Jerry at the new KidZania cinema


Reel Cinemas has installed a specially designed, kid-friendly screen inside the Dubai Mall’s enormous edutainment centre. Wondering what to take them to see? The new cinema has opened just in time to catch the newly-released live-action, computer-animated remake of the classic cat and mouse cartoon, Tom and Jerry. The comedy is on at the cinema throughout February.

Make a splash at Laguna Waterpark when it re-opens

After a month-long hiatus, Laguna Waterpark is re-opening to the public on Friday February 26. This buzzing waterpark features four distinct zones and caters to the daredevils with rides such the regions first WaveOz 180 FlowRider, but doesn’t overlook the little ones with a lazy river and a dedicated water adventure zone. There are also private cabanas available with prices starting from Dhs1,500.

Sign up to an education fair and find out about studying abroad

The two-day event, which is being held on Friday March 5 and Saturday March 6, is aimed at helping students from the UAE select their further education choices abroad. Representatives from more than 100 of the world’s leading universities and higher education institutions from the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and more, will be on hand to answer any burning questions and to offer advice.
