Rap legend signed up for free Grand Prix concert on corniche

Great news if you can’t stretch to see the acts at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. US rap star Timbaland will be headlining a special free event on October 30 and supported by The Wailers and Soul II Soul.

The concert will be part of Beats on the Beach, a series of beach front concerts featuring international, regional and local artists are estimated to attract more than 30,000 people each day.

The impressive line-up, which also includes Soul II Soul, The Wailers, as well as Lebanese artists Myriam Fares and Fares Karam, is expected to bring the capital to life in the run up to the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2009.

Yasalam — meaning ‘wow’ — is what it’s called and Yasalam is what is promises to be.

Starting on October 16, Yasalam features three main elements – Live on the Corniche, Live Across the City and Live on Yas Island.

Live on The Corniche, which can accomodate approximately 30,000 on a stretch of public beach, will be two weeks of entertainment featuring music and film.

Cinema by the Sea will showcase motor-themed movies from Disney’s Cars to classic The Italian Job. Beats on the Beach will be a series of free concerts.

Live Across the City will give F1 lovers of all ages the chance to learn more about the sport and even chat to a number of the drivers.

Live on Yas Island will be four concerts for Grand Prix ticket holders only featuring music heavyweights Beyonce and Aerosmith with two others to be confirmed. No extra tickets will be sold for these concerts.
