Striker Salim Sa’ad died during training at Al Nasr stadium

UAE national team and Al Nasr striker Salim Sa’ad has died.

The 31-year-old striker was training with his teammates at about 8pm at Al Nasr when he collapsed.

He was taken to Sheikh Rashid Hospital where he was pronounced dead, confirmed Michael Rodothenous, the team’s chief executive.

Saad’s older brother Bakhit, 40, the captain of the UAE beach soccer team, was playing a match against Uruguay in the Beach Soccer World Cup in Jumeirah at the time.

He was given news of his brother’s death when the game ended.

Salem Saad, who joined Al Nasr in June, was captain of Al Shabab when they won the league title last year.

His father, Saad al Abadla, also collapsed and died on the pitch playing football for Al Shabab when he was in his 40s.
