The news has hardly had time to settle in. The Burj Dubai is now the Burj Khalifa, after a shock announcement by Sheikh Mohammed last night and somebody has already snapped up the domain name www.burjkhalifa.com.
The ruler of Dubai renamed the emirate’s historic building as a gesture to Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu dhabi, at the opening ceremony of the iconic tallest skyscraper in the world.
But it still remains to be seen whether the new domain name will stay with its current owner as “public” domain names normally cannot be held by private persons.
