The UAE’s first event, UFC 112, will be staged in Abu Dhabi on April 10.
It is expected the contest will be held outdoors and at night. Early contenders as venue to host the event, according to a source close to the negotiations, are the Emirates Palace hotel and Yas Marina Circuit.
After beginning in 1993, the UFC endured a troubled start before evolving into the increasingly mainstream sport it is today. Ringside seats at the once-a-month UFC events have become more coveted than their boxing equivalents and UFC UAE looks set to be just as popular.
