Brits 2010

Lady Gaga and Lily Allen triumph and Cheryl Cole dodges the red carpet…

The Brit Awards took over London last night but it was an American lady who stole the show.

New York super-diva Lady Gaga walked away with hat-trick of gongs, thanking the British audience for allowing her into their ‘club’.

The singer took home awards in the international categories for best female, best breakthrough act and best album for The Fame.

Meanwhile, Oasis bad boy Liam Gallagher stayed true to form, refusing to thank brother and band mate Noel as he collected the group’s award for best album of the last 30-years for (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?

The Mancunian siblings have refused to speak to each other since a summer of music festival scuffles led to the band’s break-up.

Battling against yet more tabloid gossip about her errant husband, Chelsea and England football star Ashley Cole, Princess of pop Cheryl Cole took to the stage with a gutsy performance of Fight For This Love. The question is, how much longer will the hard-as-nails Geordie carry on fighting for a man so clearly unable to keep his hands to himself?

The red carpet was almost as exciting as the stage. Lily Allen donned a series of bizarre wigs while Lady Gaga turned up in what looked to be an outfit made entirely of lace and cotton wool.

Other stars to turn heads included The Spice Girls’ Mel B and Geri Halliwell, who appeared to have turned up disguised as an Abba tribute act while hip hop’s finest Dizzy Rascal shocked onlookers by wearing, shock horror, a suit!
