Abu Dhabi Police nabbed 400 speeding drivers in the capital during a two-week clampdown on dangerous driving, it has been reported.

Some motorists were driving at speeds of over 200km per hr, and others have had their vehicles confiscated, the National reports on Sunday.

The drivers were all caught by police using hand-held radars.

Col Hussein al Harthi, director of the traffic and patrol department, said in an official statement he was outraged at the excessive speeds at which some people drove at.

He warned “uncivilised” driving would lead to arrest and the seizure of cars.

Drivers of the confiscated vehicles will have to pay an undisclosed fee for the release of their cars.
