Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club invites public to join polo fun on Friday April 9

Looking for something fun to try next weekend? Then a day at the polo could be just what you’re looking for.

Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club is throwing open its doors on Friday April 9 to give the public a rare glimpse behind the scenes at the UAE’s only Royal polo facility as it celebrates the Grand Final of the H.H President’s Polo Cup.

The most prestigious polo tournament in the UAE is set amid the lush greenery of the facility’s 300 hectares and members of the public are invited to come along and experience the exclusive club, grounds, on-pitch action and family entertainment, free of charge.

The four-team tournament, which started on March 25, is held under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club and presented by Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and lead sponsored by Al BastiEquiworld and Maserati.

Each team consists of two high-goal Argentine professional players, joining forces with two accomplished Emirati amateurs. Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club, which boasts eight floodlit polo fields, is renowned for some of the fastest and most skillful polo in the UAE and is the only club in Abu Dhabi.

“We are very pleased to open our doors to families and spectators for the H.H President of UAE Polo Cup,” said HE Saeed bin Houfan Al Mansoori, Vice Chairman of Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club “Everybody is welcome to join us in celebrating the most important tournament of our season and watch some of the best players showcasing their skill to the public of the UAE.”

Visitors are welcome to Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club throughout the tournament although on April 9, the date of the Grand Final, guests are in for a treat as, aside from the high-adrenaline action on the pitch, there will be free family entertainment laid on with a picnic area set aside. Stable tours and polo instructions will also take place throughout the day.

“We encourage anybody who is interested in polo, as well as those who are just curious to come along and see what our facility and our accomplished polo players have to offer,” Salem Al Shamsi, Deputy Director General of the Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club said. “This is an opportunity for families to come and have a glimpse inside the most exclusive and prestigious polo club in the UAE, and enjoy some of the best polo in the country.”

Gates open at 12pm and spectators are invited to bring along a picnic, or enjoy the on-site food. Guests can also visit the ADCB Enclosure and enjoy fun activities for the kids:  From artistic expression and face painting in the Creative Corner to the Ambition Climbing Tower and bouncy slide in the Active Zone.
