Two Britons in Dubai have had their appeal against a one-month jail sentence for indecency thrown out by the local authorities.
Ayman Najafi, 24, and Charlotte Adams, 25, were arrested by police in November after a 38-year-old mother accused them of kissing each other on the mouth in a restaurant at the Jumeirah Beach Residence.
The mother claimed that she had been offended by their behaviour and submitted written evidence to the courts.
The pair will be deported after completing their sentence, and have also been fined AED1,000 ($272).
Najafi came to Dubai 18 months ago, and had been working for marketing firm the Hay Group. Adams was in the emirate on holiday.
The pair said they would make a second appeal against the judge’s decision.
