Five female news presenters on the Qatar-based Al Jazeera television channel have resigned over issues including their dress code, it has been reported.
Jumana Namur, Lina Zahreddin, Lona al-Shibel, Julnar Mussa and Nofar Afli have collectively quit, AFP news agency reports.
The women handed in their notice after repeated criticism from a top company official for allegedly not being conservative enough in their dress, Al-Hayat daily reported on Sunday.
However, a journalist at the satellite station, who wished to remain anonymous, told the news agency the “conflicts run much deeper”.
The Doha-based channel told AFP it would issue a statement later.
