Al Wahda players net Dhs300k bonus…

Each first team member of Abu Dhabi’s Al Wahda Football Club has been paid an Dhs300,000 ($81,600) bonus for winning the UAE Premier League.

Club chairman Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the reward for each player after Al Wahda triumphed in the championship, news agency WAM reported.

They took top spot, beating rivals Al Jazira by seven points with a final tally of 58 points. Brazilian star Fernando Baiano top scored with 18 goals.

It was their fourth UAE title and their first since 2005.

Each player of the Al Wahda under 19s team will also get a AED20,000 bonus for winning the youth championship while the under 17s team will bag a AED15,000 for winning their championship.

Dr Essam Mohammed Ali, executive manager of the club, said that Sheikh Saeed has also instructed payment of one month basic salary to all the club staff “for their efforts and contributions in achieving these awards”.
