Al Jazeera WC cards

We’ve finally located an Al Jazeera World Cup card in Abu Dhabi…

If you’re still wondering how to watch the World Cup matches in the comfort of your own home, look no further. After having been sent on a merry waltz up and down anonymous dealers on Electra Street, Time Out Abu Dhabi managed to track down the elusive Al Jazeera smart cards at 21 Century Phones, a small kiosk on the second floor of Marina Mall.

With only two days of the 6-week competition gone, it was certainly a case of better late than never. The card, which slotted neatly and without difficulty into our aging satellite decoder, cost Dhs375, offering two months of World Cup spectacle spread across the entire Al Jazeera Sports network. Two months was the shortest and cheapest connectivity available, though six month a 12 month cards were also available.

The Al Jaeerza card has caused Abu Dhabi’s football fans confusion until now, with no apparent advertising as to where the card would be available.   The opening two days of the competition have seen viewers flock to bars and restaurants around the city to make the most of the communal atmosphere. For an in-depth guide to the World Cup in Abu Dhabi, make sure you pick up a copy of Time Out Abu Dhabi, June edition, in stores now.
Once you’ve got your card installed, restart your decoder and go to your menu. Al Jazeera have been broadcasting the World Cup across the following channels:

Al Jazeera Sports 2 Al Jazeera Sports +2 Al Jazeera Sports World Cup (a dedicated channel showing big games such as the recent England Vs USA disaster)

English commentary is only available on the JSC WC (dedicated World Cup channel)
