Tiesto to perform in Abu Dhabi

The turntable king will be here on October 1

Never let it be said that modern musicians don’t earn their crust. Sure, the tales of reckless excess and over-extravagant downtime among today’s beat-droppers are hard to ignore. But did Mozart ever tour 30-plus countries in the space of 10 months? Did Hendrix ever put on a 12-hour set? Does Bez even still possess the power of speech?

Proving the music industry still has a place for hard-workers, trance leviathan Tiesto has just added a stop in the UAE to his busy 2010 tour schedule. Before rounding things off with shows in the Czech Republic, America and Australia, the industrious Dutchman will be unleashing the bleeps, blips and whooshes of fifth and latest album Kaleidoscope to the assembled crowds of ADNEC on October 1st, in a set that’s slated to last a whopping six hours.

“This year I have concentrated all my energy on the Kaleidoscope World Tour. Along with the music, I have created some of my best production to date; it really feels like something special,” said Tiesto of the announcement, before adding “I am looking forward to performing in Abu Dhabi and treating my fans in the UAE to a great show!” It’s certainly an extremely high-profile event, but, having become the first ever DJ to participate in an Olympic Games opening ceremony back in 2004, we’re sure he’ll handle the pressure of the Abu Dhabi stage just fine.
