More big Hollywood names revealed

Clive Owen and Gerard Depardieu jet in for Abu Dhabi Film Festival

More superstar actors have confirmed they’ll be walking the red carpet at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, with two screen legends adding their name to the already impressive roster of A-listers.

The festival organisers have announced that Clive Owen and Gerard Depardieu will both be attending the opening gala at the Emirates Palace on Thursday evening. For Owen, the British actor who became one of Hollywood’s hottest names after turns in Sin City and Duplicity, this will be his second foray into Abu Dhabi within a year after he graced the Laureus Sports Awards in March with his stubbly visage.

While Frenchman Gerard Depardieu (Cyrano de Bergerac, 1900 and Green Card) may not quite have the same heartthrob status as the British star these days, the burly actor is a giant of world cinema and having him attend is a huge coup for the festival.

The pair will be joined at the opening gala by Oscar winner Adrien Brody, while actresses Uma Thurman and Julianne Moore will be attending at later dates during the 10-day long independent cinema showcase.
